Interested to make a simple Covid-19 stay-home chewy snack, Muah Chee / Peanut Mochi (花生麻糍), using a rice cooker? And I am going to teach you how to reduce food waste as well! Usually, when we eat peanut glutinous rice balls (花生汤圆), we don’t add the packet of peanuts inside. So, we can just accumulate them in the freezer until we have 4 or 5 packets, then we can start making this home-made Muah Chee. This way, there is no food wastage of the peanuts. However, we will need to grind these peanuts as they are still quite coarse. Many people could have heard what are the steps and precautions to take, before and after the Covid-19 vaccination, to avoid some discomforts eg fever, headache etc, especially for the 2nd dose. Yes indeed, you need to eat your meal before vaccination, drink lots of fluid and have a good rest for the next few days. It is best to drink a cup of 250cc of lukewarm water (no cold water please) before and also after your vaccination, on that day itself. Some people even advise to drink Barley Water and Ban Lan Gen which could help to reduce heatiness to prevent fever after the vaccination which we tried and they worked for us. So, no harm trying! We only experienced sore arm for a few days. Even drink fresh coconut juice might help too! Barley is cheap and is one of the superfoods which is a widely consumed cereal grains in the American diet while Asians use it to make medicine. It has impressive beauty and health benefits too! It is best to soak Barley overnight and 20g of rock sugar has already some sweetness in it. You may keeping adding the amount of rock sugar from 20g onwards to get your sweetness preferences. So next time, do not throw them away, as these bananas are most suitable for making banana cake and it is easier to mashed them too. It is an excellent source of protein, magnesium, copper, zinc and vitamin B1 and contains all nine essential amino acids. It may help to protect against some cancers, heart disease, and osteoporosis. However, overconsumption may also present some risks too. If you don't like the sauce to be too sticky, you may reduce the cornstarch solution from 1.5 tbsp to 1 tbsp or ¾ tbsp. Some of my close friends were asking me to do a video how I cut my carrot flowers (萝卜花). So, I made one. Just need to scrap off the skin, cut 4 to 5 equal V-shapes on the carrot vertically and then horizontally and tada, the carrot flowers are formed. Having some carrot flower patterns in your vegetable dishes, do help to make your food more appetising. This is one way to make my girl eat carrots too! Do try it out yourself at home but must be careful not to cut your fingers. I used to help my mum in making Curry Puffs (咖喱角) for our family's morning breakfast when young. Sometimes, we would make more so that we could have them as our lunch or for our tea break too! Hence, till now, the process of how to make this comfort food (Curry Puffs), still vividly imprinted in my mind. This dish is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians (garlic can be optional, based on personal preference). Health Benefits of Potato:- - Improves blood sugar control - Improves digestive health - Better brain health - Prevents heart diseases - Treats diarrhea - High in fibre - Reduces inflammation - Contains antioxidants which combats signs of aging - Promotes weight gain for those who wants to gain weight Health Benefits of Curry Powder:- - Combats alzheimer’s disease - Fights cancer - Supports heart health - Boosts your bones - Battles bacteria - Reduces inflammation - Aids digestion Tips: In order to make crispy curry puffs, it is a must to use butter and ice water when making the dough. For me, usually, we just add 2 tbsp of curry powder as my girl cannot take spiciness. However, if your family could take spiciness, you may add 1 to 2 tbsp more of the curry powder that suits your family preference/taste. As a beginner, making a bigger size curry puff is easier but once you are more experienced, you may consider making it into smaller sizes as it is easier to fry and also easier to eat too. Once you find that the puffs are not as crispy, you may just put them in the air-fryer for 2-3 mins and it will be crispy and nice to eat again. There are many desserts out there. One of which I am going to show how to cook here is Bean Curd, Ginkgo & Barley Sweet Soup (腐竹白果薏米). You may eat it hot or cold. If you were to realise, when you eat this dessert outside, usually, the whole Ginkgo Nut is served and you might taste the bitterness in it. That is because they never removed the Ginkgo’s stem (embryo in the middle). So, if you were to cook yourself, please remember to remove it, if you want your dessert to taste good. The reason why we like this soup is because Ginkgo Nuts are one of the brainy foods. It is said to preserve memory, as well as to promote recovery from stroke. However, children should not eat more than five Ginkgo Nuts per day and adults should not eat more than eight per day. Over these limits can result in Ginkgo poisoning.
