Many of us know how to cook instant noodles but how many of us know how unhealthy it is to our health? For a healthier choice, discard the packet of MSG, try blanching the instant noodles to get rid of the palm oil content then stir-fry the instant noodles and adding in some vegetables to your meal. Note: Usually instant noodles have 10 times oil content and has high sodium, with added MSG. Though it is easy and quick to cook but yet cheap and nice to eat, it is best not to eat them always. Reasons being, instant noodles can increase heart disease risk factors, including elevated blood sugar, cholesterol, triglyceride and blood pressure levels which is harmful to the body. Chinese New Year is coming! One of the favourite and popular CNY dishes is what we call the authentic “Fried Prawn Roll / Ngo Hiang / Hei Zho / Five Spice Roll (五香卷 / 虾枣)”. You may of course make this dish anytime when you are free too. There are many versions of making this dish. However, my version is the lazy and easy method, without the need to steam before frying it, no yam, no carrot, no black fungus, no spring onions and no parsley inside this dish but only with fresh prawns, pork, crunchy water chestnuts and the right marinade sauce. Parents usually are worried about their young kids, while eating steam fish because of its bones. However, I do not have this worry as the snakehead fish slices that I bought from wet market, do not have bones in them. So, parents might want to try out this dish at home especially for kids who don’t eat steam fish because of its fishy smell but eat only fish and chips. Kids who love to eat fish and chips, would definitely love to eat this bite-size crispy fried fish. Fish is one of the important source of protein for our health and it contains nutrients that are crucial during development stage. But many might not know that low albumin levels can indicate a problem with our liver or kidneys. Albumin is an important protein that is found in the meat of the fish and Snakehead fish contains a lot of such Albumin.
