Three years living in JLT, lessons learned about coastal car care
Been living in JLT for a couple years now, right near the water, and I've learned the hard way that you can't just treat your car the same as when you lived inland. When I first moved here I didn't think much about it, just washed the car whenever it looked dirty like I always did, but after about a year I started noticing little rust spots on some bolts underneath and the paint just didn't seem as glossy anymore. Got a bit paranoid and started researching what I should actually be doing differently, found some really useful information about Tips for protecting vehicles near coastal areas that explained things like how the salt air settles on everything and accelerates corrosion if you're not careful. Now I'm much more diligent about washing at least once a week, especially underneath, and I got the car properly waxed and treated with some protective coating that seems to help. There's a site I found that breaks all this down specifically for Dubai's coastal communities, really practical advice about what products work and how often to do things. Just wondering what everyone else who lives near the beach does, like do you get professional undercoating done, or have any particular products you swear by? Curious if I'm doing enough or if there's more I should be doing to keep the car nice long term.
